Born from Culture is a mini documentary series by Level.6 exploring dance as a vehicle for culture: the ways movement carries identity, heritage, and story across generations.

Born from Culture

Filmmakers recording a woman in a red dress in a lush, green outdoor setting.

Our Process

Every BFC documentary runs on a lean, four-stage process built for speed. It starts with Discovery, locking in the story, intention, and visual direction. Then Community Partnership, teaming up with local leaders on choreography, locations, logistics, and scope so the culture drives the film. Next is Production & Filming, a streamlined shoot capturing the hero assets plus the raw moments that spotlight community and culture. Finally, Post-Production & Posting (7 days) brings it home: edit, polish, and release the first episode within 7 days of filming.

Our Model

Each Born from Culture episode will be released in three-parts and forms a funnel that turns a moment of curiosity into a lasting connection with a culture.

01

The Teaser

A short, high-impact film built to travel. It generates traction, peaks interest, and shines a light on an underexposed culture and community.

02

The Community

A short documentary that goes deeper, highlighting the community behind the dance and what it means to the culture it belongs to.

03

Behind the Scenes

A longer documentary on the making of the project, showing how it came together and the people who helped build it.

Each part feeds the next:
Part 1 earns the attention, Part 2 rewards it with meaning, and Part 3 brings the audience all the way inside.
